Fujifilm jumps into modern gateway to tape

Fujifilm Recording Media, leader in media in secondary storage, just launched a new product and surprised the market with an Object Archive software.

The idea is to expose a S3 interface in front of tape libraries and offer a wider approach than VTL did in the past. VTL was reserved to backup software, here as an generic S3 interface, various applications can consume the gateway. Also it gives to users a remote access to TLs and you can even built a cascading S3 flow if customers have already deployed an on-prem S3 storage entity. We can imagine build a complete secured offsite data vault with such solution.

Object Archive is also the opportunity for Fujifilm to introduce a new open source tape format named OTFormat.
