Object First, a very young company out of stealth at VeemON conference, unveiled its object storage product. It is a very simple S3 target in 2U dedicated to store Veeam backup images. Founded by Veeam co-founders Ratmir Timashev and Andrei Baronov, and led as CEO by David Bennet, previous CEO of Axcient, the company has raised $12.5M. But even with is prestigious profile, I still have difficulties to see the value of it expect for Dummies. Let's take a 2U server from any vendor with the same amount of storage 500TB, install Linux and MinIO and you have the same.
