NEC introduces HYDRAstor Virtual Appliance

NEC (www.nec.com | TYO:6701), the giant IT existing for more than a century, has been a good surprise of the 21st IT Press Tour a few days ago.
NEC extends the current HYDRAstor portfolio with a Virtual Appliance (VA) flavor perfectly positioned for remote/branch offices, SMB users or acting as a gateway to enterprise secondary storage. Already winner of multiple awards and prices, HYDRAstor is the unified secondary storage reference product with probably one of the richest features set of the industry. In such category, data durability with erasure coding and data reduction with deduplication and compression are must have features and not having them are criteria of elimination during RFPs. This SDS extension targets 1TB up to 16TB, supports VMware and Hyper-V, bundles RepliGrid the WAN-optimized replication for DR, offers a S3 API with a price starting at $2,000.
