Kopit, an other P2P storage player

Visiting VivaTech show a few days ago with almost no storage presence, I discovered Kopit, a young player in P2P storage, present in the Cisco booth. Eduardo Gonzalez, 17 years at Cisco, is the CEO and founder, and did a pretty good promotion of the solution on stage.

The idea is always the same like what pioneers developed such AetherStore, KerStor, Space Mokey, Symform, UbiStorage or Wuala to list a few of them among around 20 players. Here again Kopit applied its approach to data protection.

The difficulty will be finally not the technology solved and proven for years but the industry trends around HDD and cloud storage pricing, ease of use and integration. We have some doubt of the adoption of Kopit and wonder why founders started such project in current market climate.
