Atempo releases Miria 2020

Atempo, the european leader for data protection, iterates on Miria with a series of improvements. Miria is the third product of Atempo product family and is dedicated to manage - backup, archive. move and migrate - unstructured data at scale.

The product has already introduced the support of Lustre last June but this new features set is significant to consolidate Atempo's market positions.

This release adds:

  • FastScan with the capability to scale data movers as needed to master transfer time by increasing parallelized jobs.
  • True Image Recovery to stay aligned with original state.
  • Improved object storage and cloud support with S3 for migration with any combination such local to cloud, cloud to local or cloud to cloud. AWS is supported and Azure and GCP in planned for Q1/2021 so very soon now. We understand that Swift will be added but I don't really understand if this is a joke or not.
  • Miria Backup and Archive object storage to tape. It's still an open question on the market and almost a philosophical one.
  • In 2021, we should see also an analytics module with technologies coming from Nextino, DR for large environments and new HSM capabilities without any stubs but symlinks approach.

The product is gaining in maturity and proves some huge progress on the market during last few quarters. The best proof of that is the adoption of Miria for migration by 4 key players - DDN as DataFlow, Qumulo, Nutanix and Huawei.

It will be interesting to see where Igneous will land as it represents a danger for the french company. At the same time, it's an opportunity for Atempo. It would be good for Atempo to study as well what Flexify is doing for cloud. A lot of promises, we'll monitor closely Miria in 2021. Congratulations to the Atempo Miria team.
