Atempo accelerates on data protection

Atempo, the European leader in data protection, was the first company to physically meet The IT Press Tour crew yesterday. What a pleasure to have restarted physical sessions and to have insisted to organize face-to-face meetings. We have proven once again that it's possible and that the IT Press Tour is a strong event leading the media event wave in IT.

Atempo team shared a good recap of 2021 with various achievements and we measured all the progress made by the company during the pandemic. Human beings were and are impacted but product developments never stopped.

The company has chosen to split data protection from data management to promote separately Tina, Lina and Yoobackup as backup solutions and Miria as management, two strong products line addressing different needs with some overlaps especially on the backup space as you can imagine.

For data protection, the company targets SMB and enterprises via channel partners and also with an active MSP program. The company has started to make some efforts in the portfolio trying to limit product directions, the next effort would be to aggregate Yoobackup within Atempo classic line, at least form a product name perspective. Each time Atempo has to explain where does this product comes from. And it's even more true today as starting now the Atempo - Wooxo group will be operating under the Atempo brand. At the same time, the team has to protect its Wooxo installed base.

The DP strategy seems to be pretty clear for the European leader with a large coverage of needs from classic enterprise bare metal on-premise to virtualization, endpoints to online applications. Goals are set, now it is more a questions of features, roadmaps and execution as competitions come from various horizons.

The company continues to promote advanced features, techniques and methods such time navigation, source deduplication, simple "one click restart", data immutability, CDP, bare metal restore, security with 2 factor authentication and encryption, and SaaS application support with pretty comprehensive protection of Office 365 today. In 2021 Atempo has added a MSP portal, backup to cloud, LTO-9 and Worm support plus Nutanix AVH and OpenStack. Always surprised to see OpenStack in the list, a project with no future, addressed in Europe who completely disappeared in US.

In 2022, Louis-Frederic Lazlo, Director of Product Management, has insisted on the need to support S3 Object Lock, universal endpoint support, SaaS applicationx extensions, a global MSP service integration to be seen as a service and no longer as a product and even more simplicity. We'll see but Atempo DP is clearly among the small list of strong and rich products on the market.
